There's a wonderful, wonderful book by Yonge Mingyur Rinpoche called The Joy of Living. He says that being mindful or practicing mindfulness is not about being in the here and now all the time. It's rather returning to the here andnow. And what he says is that meditation really is about having these oops moments. So regular physical exercise has the same effect on our psychological well being as our most powerful psychiatric medication.
