The Attorney General's Delegation of Authority to an Executive Branch Agency
The appointment order, 5559-2022, basically gives three things, three broad areas to Jack Smith. Number one is to investigate and prosecute crimes in connection with January 6th. The third area is what you anticipated, the ability to refer out cases that they come up with along the way. And it's clear there's a line in there that says, if the special counsel needs to assume jurisdiction over one of those cases, then we'll work that out.
