Law enforcement developed a profile of the sniper, but they didn't release it to the public. The argument was that he was probably a white male on the grounds that most mass shooters are white males. America was still reeling from the 9-11 attacks and Osama bin Laden had been urging jihadists around the world to attack people in the West. That's a pattern we've seen a good bit in recent years whenever a shooting happens or a bomb goes off.
