Are Drug Trials Cheaper Than Pleas?

Most people who are charged don't get trials, they face the pressure of accepting a plea. A more rational approach to drugs would clear a lot out of the system,. Prosecutors would hate it, because their view is it's a lot easier to catch the person with the drugs in their pocket than the person in mid deal. But we should recognize that trials, speedy trials, getting having them happen regularly and quickly isn't cheap.
