What Is in God, Humanity and Nature?
Spinoza's philosophy is quite mathematical and deductive. He begins the book with some definitions, then he writes out his theory in a series of propositions. And one of the most significant propositions that comes up near the beginning of the ethics is: whatever is is in god. So it tells us something immediately about how we might conceive god to be. But there's also a kind of elusiveness as well,. You know exactly what spinoza means by being in god? We can use this word 'am' and it tells us Something About The Idea Of God on BBC Radio 4 tonight at 8pm.
