Is That a Tobacco Research Action?

The law is saying a public official cannot accept payment in exchange for taking action on official matters. The court says that setting up meetings or hosting events does not qualify as an action on the issue of whether to initiate the study. "It takes a special kind of lawyer brain to sort of talk yourself out of that basic reasoning by convincing yourself that like hosting events and setting up meetings don't count as actions," said Sotomayor.
