The Gift of Fear
Father Gregory: St. Thomas Aquinas describes the gifts of the Holy Spirit and how they correspond to certain virtues. He says fear corresponds to hope in one way and temperance in another, but he really spends his time with the virtue of hope. Father Gregory: In order to receive the Holy Spirit well, again, you have to empty yourself. You have to remove what's in the vessel so the Holy Spirit can be poured into it. And that for blessed Jordan means abandoning your own self will and your own emotions - surrendering them to God.
