The Challenges of the Amazon in Brazil

The Amazon has long been thought of as a carbon sink, hasn't it? It absorbs large amounts of CO2 from the atmosphere. As more trees burn, that is under threat. We're going to focus for a few minutes on a remote region of the rainforest in the north of Brazil - close to the border with Venezuela. There are new cases of malnutrition, worsened by nearby illegal mining. The Yanamami people live a hunter-gatherer lifestyle on a reserve, which is the size of Portugal.
