What Is an Oracle?

In an historic security context, we would call this a trusted third party, not non an oracle. The point of block chainism is to build these permissionless block chains. In the case of a bitcoin, it's something called proof of work. I do think there is something really interesting about building untrusted networks where the trust is derived from the computation and not from the people.
