The Problem With Silicon Valley Bank

The problem didn't reside on the asset side of the balance sheet. To me, it resides and resided on the liability side. People knew that Silicon Valley Bank was carrying a bunch of safe bonds, but which had declined in value because of interest rate rises. But for some reason, it suddenly became much more pertinent to worry about that. And that's part of what started the run on the bank.
