In the jewish tradition we have laws that we don't understand and this i think is extremely important to keep in mind because what we've done as jews is we've produced stories that give these laws meaning. We buy into the christian idea that rules are on one side and ethics are on the other side and it's our job to bridge those categories but if you open up by yikra parakeute and you read the parake from beginning to end there's no distinction between laws and ethics, says Rabbi Shmuley Boteach.
