The Effect of Inflation on the Market
The market is ultra sensitive to what the central bank says, so the reaction function is very important. The inflation numbers themselves caused a big problem that they've been higher for longer than they had expected. But also, there's been a change in rhetoric where initially the US was just ignoring high prints. And then from around June last year onwards, with the move up in the dots in their forecasts, the Fed has been slowly moving much more towards a view that inflation is more persistent.
