I Don't Versus I Can't

When we're trying to stick to our goals, often there's temptation. A great professor named Vanessa Patrick has a book coming out about better ways to say no. She says that if you ask people, rather than saying I can't do something, so hey, would you like some chocolate cake? No, I can't. Saying I don't makes us much more likely to stick toOur goals.

At around one year old, Jonah Berger’s son started saying the word “peas.” What he really meant to say was “please,” but that didn’t matter.
