The Origins of the Goths in the Roman Empire
The Roman army was starved for capable soldiers and officers after the defeat at Adrianople. The Romans had zero reason to make an exception for the Goths. A great mini-Goths absolutely joined the Eastern Roman field armley. Many of them ended up in units that were composed mostly of Goths.
