The crom book market is slowing down, especially with at the start of the pandemic. It makes sense that google would not be pumping all this money into that particular hardware line up. The pixl phones are big enough and their identity as a phone is unique enough that people who like sam song are not changed for a pixl phone. They don't w therewould have to be one hell of an upside for them to want to get back into that market.
