The Silk Road: A History of Intercultural Dialogue

I'm quite struck that everyone seems to want to be associated with this. You know the Japanese, the Chinese, there's interest in the west even UNESCO. I mean if a UN official is using a phrase it must have virtually no controversial content whatsoever at the international power politics level. So does that suggest that this Silk Road phrase is viewed positively virtually everywhere? Well, yes and the bit I've left out of my story so far isthat what happens in the 20th century and particularly after the Second World War was the Silk Road narrative becomes a history of internationalism.
