Descartes says, well Hobbes, if you're engaging in reasoning as opposed to just computation, you actually care. So reasoning acts on purpose and it cares about standards or goals. It works according to a normative standard of how we ought to behave. Do not advocate one side of a phenomenon without paying attention to central criticisms made by its progenitor. Because what's day cart saying to Hobbes? Truth depends on meaning.
