Basil the Bulgar Slayer

Basil lecopinos was stripped of lands and exiled. Now the young emperor could rule on his own terms. And so he took to the battlefield to besiege the bulgarian city of surdica, which we recognize to day as the modern bulgarian capital city of sofia. However, the siege failed, and the prominent bulgarian military leader, samuel, pursued basil. Basil barely escaped with his life.
