The calendar was written entirely in a celtic dialect. It confirms that the celts were not the barbarians the romans considered them to be. And it shows a sophisticated series of astronomical calculations, which is completely independent of the calendar developed by the romans. Many of our modern english words related to dates and time keeping come from the roman himself. For example, the name of the month of july comes directly from the name julius and julius caesar.
