Developing Capacity Building in Africa

Prior to 54, jean luncheon, the west at east aer carried out in africa studies led by us. Typically what happened was you would have african scientists carry out studies but essentially they will get the samples. And so for us, we decided that as a principle, we would not want to shape samples outside of the continent. That would force the building of capabilities like sequence in laves across africa which could then, in addition to supporting research, support clinical diagnosis.
