The Horrors of Project Sunshine
Federal researchers conducted radiation tests on stillborn babies in Chicago during the 1950s. Project Sunshine was a large-scale study conducted by the newly formed Atomic Energy Commission to determine long-term effects of nuclear fallout on humans. According to documents, scientists cremated more than 40 newly deceased infants and measured the amounts of radioactivity in the remains.
