The Afro-Futurist Vision of Wakanda
I think there's like a sense of lost history, which is generally like a kind of light morning over so much of this. Even with those archival images, it just kind of takes you back to all of the artists that never would have gotten that stage. He's interested in what happens when he, as an artist, is looking at those rather than imagining those within, let's say, a colonial gaze. And I love that they'd constructed a little model city out of them.
