Nasopharyngeal swab seems to have better specificity than sensitivity. So people, you know, for this patient, as you mentioned, you're super concerned for COVID. Even a negative test there, you're probably going to keep this person on a hands droplet and treat it as if it is COVID. The accessory muscle thing is really the key. It's when they start breathing heavily and using accessory muscles and they can't even complete a full sentence that I start thinking about either non-invasive ventilation or getting them intubated. There are many different options we have available in the hospital that can be utilized.
