Is There a Cosmic Gravitational Background?

Every time you accelerate in your car, you cause a little gravitational wave. As the earth moves around the sun, it's generating gravitational waves. There should be black holes merging and neutron stars colliding with black holes all over the galaxy. Some of them are too far away for us to pick out individually, but they should turn into like an overall hum.
