Is There an Element of Cowardly Coward?
I think I would replace the lack of ambition thing that you identified Lillian with like at least in many cases, intellectual cowardice, right? Like he wants to have his cake and eat it too. And yet he doesn't but he doesn't want to be responsible for what claiming that connection actually entails. He is trying to offer a hypothesis of how we might think these discourses modes of conduct could translate into another sphere of life. So perhaps it's about the, you know, presenting a possible picture of how people translate ideas from one realm of life into their practical activities or the practical conduct in another form of life.
