Is There a Bacterial Inflammation?
When a cell is dying, it will flip. It has an inability to maintain the integrity of the plasma membrane. Lipids that are normally stored facing the inside of the cytoplasm flip to the outside. And that is a signal to macrophages that that's a dying cell, and they should eat them.
