Jesse: I don't know how many people actually have that kind of an opportunity to take on the whole thing. Not many. The volunteers will push themselves harder and become a more well-rounded software engineer than those that respond to instruction only within their own domain. They end up being happier and their careers usually move in myriad ways that not even they can expect.
