There are a couple of potential mimics which you need to be made aware of. CT is the best test we have available, and it's actually so good that there are genuine concerns about picking up clinically irrelevant pneumothoracies in trauma. In those patients where they would suggest major traumatic injuries, chest x-ray needs further classification - but not necessarily for everyone.
