The Pharisee Welcomes Jesus to His House

The Pharisees were considered guardians of Jewish conviction and culture. They stand out as some of the greatest enemies of Jesus in the Gospels. The text says she is a sinful woman, most likely a prostitute. But look more closely at what's happening in the story. She doesn't just sit at the table. What does she do? She begins to weep so much so that she washes the feet of Jesus with her hair and with her tears. And she takes this flask, this jar of perfume and breaks it over him.
