The Allegory of Soviet Cinema

Cinema famously speaks in a language that does not require words and so we had cinema serving as an ideological messaging system for the Bolsheviks. The best known of the Soviet filmmakers was a guy called Sergei Eisenstein whose films are familiar to many. These films are historical dramas that have the look and feel, to me at least, of action films. They dramatize the modernization of the socialist workforce. And they all do so in this new language the language of cinema. It might be something like the primal scene for Marxism and cinema to properly interfease together.
