In the 1980s, psychologists Richard Tedeschi and Lawrence Calhoun discovered some really interesting things about trauma. They contacted more than 600 people who had gone through severe trauma. More than half of all those trauma survivors report positive change. People talked about feeling greater inner strength, they were more competent,. A big one was that they felt like life had more meaning or that they had started reorienting their lives toward more fulfilling purposes.
