How Does the Hierarchy Work in Practice?

The Christ willed that his church have a hierarchical constitution. The College of Bishops is then headed by the successor of St. Peter. And basically, as you move up that hierarchy, you get additional graces and guidance from the Holy Spirit to enable you to run your office.
