Do Platforms Need to Be Bigger for Distribution?

In order for democracies to work really well, you want hyper local communities. But there's this weird tension between that being true and the network effects of these platforms skewing towards scale. I think longer term will probably see a lot more of that where you actually have governance mechanisms that are native to the platforms that these things are happening on. And it may just be the individuals themselves like acts of curation as a mode of distribution.
