In London, there were measles deaths every year from 1676 to the mid-1800s. And it shows that the disease was fully endemic. But if you look at the yearly trends, you can also see that there were some years with a lot of cases and some with just a few. The interval between these outbreaks got shorter and shorter as time went on.
