The Farmland of Mesopotamia
People living in cities probably had fewer children than their rural counterparts to begin with. A lot of people must have come from the countryside, where fert ty rates were high. People took war captives or slaves and transplanting them back into the cities of southern mesopotamia. The scale grew as time passed into the second and first millennia.
