A Portrait of a Young Artist
By 1768 he's declaring that he's going to be the greatest artist of his age. So, a confident young man. Really confident, which we'll talk about perhaps because that comes out in the exhibition too. He sort of establishes himself as a painter of these kind of expressive, excessive scenes painted from literature, history and his imagination. You know, an eccentric, he's kind of revered and ridiculed in equal measure.
