The History of the Hittites

The Hittites were in amalgamation of migrating Indo-European peoples from the Eurasian steppe who moved south into Anatolia. They would base their new emerging power base at Hittusha relatively unchallenged. The mountainous terrain would have been rich in resources such as metals and precious stones so they were in a good position to set the trade rules to their neighbours on all sides. By 1600 BCE the Hittites had moved their borders towards Levantine lands and the Yamhad Kingdom.
