Gramsci and the Communist Party

I think the whole conversation that Gramsci is involved in, and even people like Alto Sera and the Frankfurt School, is a very different conversation today. Trying to figure out why it is that Marxist theory exists on the one hand as this analysis and method for understanding the world has a particular political purpose. And what is the relationship between those two things? That was a different question to ask in the 19th and early 20th century. What does Gramsci look like if there is no Communist Party? I can offer part of that, but somebody else can jump into before.
