I think there's a divide between people who want to build state capacity, improve the ability of government to do what it says it can do. And those who want to destroy it to really dismantle it. Those boundaries do not really respect the traditional boundaries of left and right. There are plenty of people on the left, who are deeply, deeply skeptical at state capacity for good reasons. We should be able to hire more public servants because when you are frustrated in government that things are moving too slowly, what you need are more good new public servants," he said.
