How Do You Scaffold History Students?

A lot of times when students come into my class, what they think is that they need to have a sort of historical chronology of content. So one of the criteria that we use in the rubric is this compelling. Have you chosen materials that present a compelling perspective or view? And in doing that, have you demonstrated an awareness of the totality of the issue? It's not taking us away from the goals of an analog course where it's to analyze a primary source and understand historical context.
