The Cultural Revolution of the Seventies

After the death of linba, chinese domestic and foreign policy was in termoil. There was also a big problem that the relationship with the soviet union had become more and more brittle. The opening to america came as another sign that that slow but steady move towards opening to the outside world would take place. It wasn't straightforward, because various people, including jang ching, the the wife of mao, were actually very against the idea of opening up.
