Designing for the Next Billion Users

I've heard you talk about designing for the next billion users. How does that fit in with the overarching goals of Google as a company? There is enormous potential in markets like Brazil and Kenya, Nigeria, Indonesia, India, etc. And what we have to note is that these people, their interaction with, their experience with the web is very different from mine and yours.
