In 2002, Hato started releasing what was the most extraordinary outpouring of music from any classical musician. She released over 100 CDs in the next four years on a label owned by Barrington Coop. It was only after her death in 2006 that the truth came out. None of the recordings from her late golden period were actually of her. Her business partner had simply been taking other people's recordings and re-issuring them under her name with made-up conductors and orchestras.
