Bunch: Internationalism Versus the Encouragement of New Nationalisms
In 1956, shortly before Ghana's independence from Britain kicked off a huge wave of African liberation. Bunch noted what he termed the UN dilemma, internationalism versus the encouragement of new nationalisms. He was worried about the way that nationalism and the politics of nationalism in new nations could undermine multilateral process of UN cooperation. And I think Congo is the best example where this quickly goes off the rails.
