Is God the God of the Gentiles?
The apparitions of Mary often have in or all have in common is that she takes on the symbols and images that were are powerful to the people that she's appearing to. It makes me think a little bit of a passage in Romans 9 through 11. St. Paul is talking about how the grace of God has come to the Gentiles, but he's up to different things during salvation history at different times. The same thing here, it's not as though God's sort of like doesn't like other indigenous places, but that God had a special desire to put his name here in the Americas.
