The Importance of Coping
As a physician, especially in training, we are surrounded by illness and death. It isn't normal to have your patient die on the table and chit chat with the other parents two hours later. We cannot cure all disease or prevent every complication our patients will die - sometimes by our own hands. So what can we do? We can talk to each other. We can learn healthy coping mechanisms. Do something that you lose track of time doing for no other reason than it brings you joy. Meditate. It's free. Read on psychology, philosophy, mindfulness, Buddhism,. stories of other people who have struggled.
