Python: A New Language for Teaching Computer Science

I was told when I was in college that Fortran was the most important language I was ever going to learn. In grad school, I started hacking in Pearl a lot and then C++ and Java. And then I made a career change in 2003 where I became a college professor. We decided that we were going to go ahead and adopt Python as our introductory language for teaching computer science.
