The Golden Wedding
Damon Valarian was promoted to hand to the king after Rogar was fired. Alyssa dies in childbirth, giving birth to Jocelyn. She is the mother of Rainies, the queen who never was. The shivers really hits Damon a few years later when he retired and all three of his sons died from the shivers. He lived for maybe 30 more years in retirement, which is kind of unusual.
