A lot of smart people believe that the most important cause of a company success is actually the market you're in. Apple's internal forecasts were way lower than actual sales and they knew time was working against them to get their product out by 1987 purchases. They also made strategic mistakes such as targeting universities yet they only make purchases in one time a year so if you miss that date you're pushed back another year which means you have to float the company. The act of building especially but it's hard enough to build a one successful company but doing it over and over and over again has its own consequences.
