As stable coins grow in popularity, they are drawing increasing interest from an array of regulators jockeying for regulatory position. Many people find stable coins to be a convenient payments tool that facilitates the movement and exchange of crypto currencies. Regulators should be careful with broad generalizations, since stable coins are not uniform in operation or transparent. Overly broad application of the law to capture stable coins inadvertently might capture other products and services. Stable coin fear is unwarranted. As federal reserve vice chair randall quarles explained, we do not need to fear stable coins. The very kindness stings with intolerable insult.
